Global Youth Health Summit & Hackathon 2019

MDJunior is having a hackathon at Emory University during the conference.

MDJunior values the opinions and creativity of students, so we will hosting a competition where the competitors are charged with creating a realistic solution to a problem currently facing the globe.

The purpose of our hackathon is to encourage the youth to think and creatively solve problems centered around public health.

What exactly is the "Hackathon"?

The "hackathon" is a competition held during the GYHS conference where competitors have been tasked with creating an innovative but realistic solution to an issue or concern relating to public health facing society today. Despite what the name may infer, we are allowing solutions that are not technological- think business proposals or inventions. Proposals will be judged on originality and effectiveness. Top competitors will get a chance to present their winning proposals in their own segment of the summit and compete for first place in front of a panel of judges and the audience to receive a prize.

Who should participate?

The hackathon is open to all- high school and college students- who are driven to create a better world for all and want to attend GYHS. You are allowed to work individually or in partners (however both members must register for the conference).

NOTE: While we encourage all attendees of the GYHS Conference to participate in the Hackathon, the Hackathon is not mandatory.

Why should you participate?

This is a great opportunity for you to work with new people, network with professionals, and create something that could make the lives of thousands better. If that’s not incentive enough, you will earn the coveted “Youth Fellow” recognition, a certificate for participating and attending GYHS, and the top winner will be presented with a trophy!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • The Hackathon is not mandatory if you already plan on attending the summit, however you MUST register for the summit  if you plan on competing in the event

  • Both individuals in the group must register for the summit separately

  • If you have any questions regarding the hackathon, don't hesitate to contact us!
